How Served To Serve (STS) got started? Every year a group of Army Veterans, that served together at Fort Campbell Kentucky, would get together for an annual reunion normally in May at the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, KY. The Veterans would also meet every year in Atlanta, GA, to celebrate one of the members birthday. During these times together, there was always quality time designated to partake in some deep discussions regarding life’s experiences. The conversations always lead to “how we could impact the lives of at-risk youth that may be headed down the wrong path in life”. Early on there was a quick realization during the discussions, that each felt a deep concern for America’s youth. As a result of these conversations, each agreed to put forth a dedicated effort to try to make a difference in the lives of as many youth as possible. The goal was to meet them at their level, to understand their situations from their perspective – hence coining the phrase, “Out of their faces and into their shoes”. The Veteran’s understand that today’s youth are getting hit with a lot of temptations and pressures that can easily pull them in the wrong directions and wanted to be that bridge to help them overcome those situations. With that mission in mind, in 2020 the Veterans collectively founded the Motivational Speaking group named Served To Serve. Served To Serve is open to the inclusion of new Veteran members that share the same passion and vision of motivating and inspiring youth.
